Johnnie LeMaster played professional baseball.  He now serves on the Lord’s team.  Johnnie was the San Francisco Giants’ number one draft pick in 1973. Johnnie was selected in the first round by the Giants.  His professional baseball career as a shortstop lasted fourteen years. Most of Johnnie’s career was spent in San Francisco. He also played for the Cleveland Indians, Pittsburg Pirates, and Oakland A’s. Johnnie’s first at bat in the major leagues was an inside the park home run!

In 2008 the Giants celebrated their 50th anniversary from moving from New York to San Francisco. Johnnie was honored with a Johnnie LeMaster night showing highlights from his career in the new AT&T Stadium on their diamond vision. He also was honored on September 23, 2008, when the Giants unveiled their wall of fame as a living tribute to the organization’s greatest players whose records stand highest among their teammates on the basis of longevity and achievements.

After retiring from baseball in 1987, Johnnie has been a businessman, owner of Johnnie LeMaster Sports, (retail sporting goods), owner of LeMaster Properties, Inc., (real estate). He also coached Pikeville College Baseball for twelve years. Johnnie is civic minded, he served on his home town, Paintsville, KY city council for eight years. Johnnie serves as an elder for the Paintsville Church of Christ. He is very devoted to mission work. His travels include Peru, Panama, Greece, India, and Africa.

Johnnie and his wife Debbie will celebrate their 38th anniversary this year. They have two daughters, Brandi LeMaster Collins, a Family Practice physician, and Amber LeMaster Ratliff, Abbott Pharmaceuticals. They have seven grandchildren that have taken him back to the Little League field, no place in the world he would rather be.

Johnnie will speak at the 11 a.m. Sun. service.  His theme is “Box Score.”  He will also present a motivational speech at 5 p.m. to the Truman Baseball Team and all of us under the tent on the brick mall at Truman (between McClain Hall and the SUB).  We will be serving hotdogs at this event.  The rain location will be in Baldwin Hall Little Theatre.
